20% Film Discount for AVIs on External Hard Drive Only

You've asked for it, so we're offering it.

On any film transfer (over our $100 minimum) we are extending an offer of a 20% discount. To get the discount you agree to accept the AVIs only on an external hard drive. These files are speed corrected and are the exact same files that we would normally provide on data-DVDs as AVIs. You would not receive any TV DVDs or any other discs. These items cannot be ordered later. This option is for ONLY people who know that they are capable of editing video and creating their own DVDs.

The cost of the hard drive will be our actual cost to acquire the drive. You can reference prices at zipzoomfly.com or mwave.com for an idea of the cost. We use only high-quality Western Digital or Seagate external hard drives.

What type of external hard drive do you provide?

We will usually provide a Western Digital external drive with at least USB 2.0 and FireWire (1394a) interfaces. If a model with E-SATA interface is available for the same price we will provide that drive. Since hard drive pricing changes so much from week to week we may sometimes provide a Seagate hard drive. Both manufacturers produce excellent products.

How large of a drive will you provide?

Depending on the size of your project we will usually provide a drive with twice the space that will be required by the AVIs. The minimum hard drive size we offer is 500GBs (gigabytes). This will provide some headroom on the drive for your editing purposes. For instance, if you want to output an AVI of edited film to the drive you will have the space. If you would like to order a drive of certain capacity we will be glad to accommodate you. You can never go wrong with excess space on a drive.

What is the difference between the discount offer and your full-price service?

With a normal full priced film transfer you will receive the following:
1. TV DVDs for watching your movies using a DVD Player on a TV, or in a computer with a DVD drive
2. DV AVIs on data-DVDs. When copied to your computers hard drive they can be easily edited with a video editing program.
3. MPEG-2s on data-DVDs. They are the same content as the DV AVIs but in a compressed MPEG-2 format.
4. MiniDV Master tapes

Are there any other benefits?

Depending on the size of your project, it could be completed a few days sooner due to the lesser amount of work required.
